The Fall of Cards

Johnny’s a two-bit dealer at the Palm Tree casino, a pig-in-a-poke establishment with pretensions to the Las Vegas Strip. He’s ambitious and wants more than just a measly promotion to that of a pit-boss, after all, he does have an A-Level in biology. Stationed at the blackjack table, late into a boozy Thursday evening, he eavesdrops a sure-fire commercial venture proposed by a Rolex wearing big-player, and Johnny wants a piece of the action. He secures a line of dodgy credit from a sharp-tooth and embarks on the biggest gamble of his life so far, investing in the stock of a newly formed oil company. Things go awry and faced with a lifetime of misery at the hands of his sadistic paymaster, Johnny hatches a plot to rob the casino; then his troubles really begin. As the world around him unravels, he enters the arena of extreme survival, where killing or being killed is a matter of guile, cunning and luck.
