Lord Hanuman is widely revered as the incarnation of Lord Shiva, recognized as the Eleventh Rudra Avatar of Lord Shiva. He is celebrated for his boundless strength, exceptional intelligence, and bravery. There are various names for Lord Hanuman, but Chiranjeevi, Bajrangbali, Anjaneya, and Sankatmochan are the most common ones. Devotees of Lord Hanuman seek courage, discipline, strength, health, and wisdom to lead a Dharmic life.
As the flag bearer of Dharma, Lord Hanuman is seen as the most substantial ally and devotee of Shree Ram in Sanatan Dharma. Without his contributions to Ramayan, Shree Ram's victory over the asur king Ravan would have been challenging. Thus, Lord Hanuman holds great significance in the culture.
There are many stories and legends associated with him. One day, during his childhood, Maruti mistakenly attempted to swallow the Sun, thinking it was a big, juicy mango. Indra Dev, the king of the deities, observed this and, to protect the Sun, attacked Maruti with his most potent weapon, the thunderbolt. The blow was so powerful that it dislocated Maruti's jaw, also known as "Hanu" in the local language. As a result, Maruti fell unconscious towards the earth, but Pavan Dev caught him in mid-air.
When Indra Dev realized his mistake of attacking a young vanar child with such a deadly weapon, he felt remorse and apologized to Pavan Dev. In response, various deities appeared before Maruti and blessed him with many powers and boons. The blessings bestowed upon Maruti alleviated his pain, and soon his jawline returned to its usual state.
Lord Shiva placed his hand on Maruti's head and granted him the boon of limitless strength and sublime knowledge. Due to his dislocated jaw, Lord Brahma gave him the name Hanuman. One of the primary boons granted to Hanuman was that he would remain unaffected by any worldly or celestial weapon. This is how Maruti transformed into Hanuman. Lord Hanuman is one of the most beloved deities in Hinduism.
He is seen and worshipped as the greatest devotee of Shree Ram.
This book contains the entire journey of Lord Hanuman and shares his virtues with the reader.
