Resumen del Editor

This audiobook will restore your faith in life. It might even save your life.

The Extraordinary Life of an Ordinary Man is not “based on a true story”; it is a true story. More precisely, it is a memoir of dozens of Dr. Tom Schneider’s true stories: from devilish schoolboy hijinks to death-defying heroics during his time in the military, and even a heated disagreement with his boss: the US surgeon general.

You’ll start listening to The Extraordinary Life of an Ordinary Man because you want to hear those stories, and you'll love them. But, what will keep you listening is the authenticity of Dr. Schneider’s voice: the way he writes to you and only you; the way his jokes, corny coming from anyone else, are funny and endearing coming from him. Then, when you get to the final few chapters and you think you there’s no way Dr. Schneider can provide you with more value, you’ll learn the basics of human health and wellness - from someone who learned them the hard way.

It’s a miracle that Dr. Schneider lived to write this book, that he did is a testament to his fighting but humble spirit, and to his desire to live up to the true meaning of his profession. The word “doctor” originally comes from the Latin “docere"; it does not mean “to heal” or “to cure”; it means, instead, “to teach”. The Extraordinary Life of an Ordinary Man will teach you something about life, death, and the human spirit on every single line.

Fascinating Memoir

Extraordinary almost sells this too short. Tom Schneider fought through many early trials and tribulations to rise above, get educated, survive a war, and devote his life to caring for others. His memoir will make you laugh and cry. I loved every page of it. The narration is superb.

A Journey You'll Never Forget

Full disclosure: Tom is one of my greatest mentors. But it wouldn't be fair of me to give anything less than a straight-up honest review. There's not a moment of this book that will not enthrall you. There's tragedy, adrenaline, triumph, humanity, wit, generosity and plain great stories. War stories, life stories, humor, mischief and lessons humbly delivered. I know how deft Tom is with the stick of an aircraft, and with a scalpel... precision. His skill with a pen rivals the others. His flow is flawless and even a bit poetic. And, I was prepared for Tom's voice to be reading the memoir, but was absolutely stunned with Hopper Stone's performance. He actually sounds quiet a lot like Tom, making this really easy to listen to for those of us who know this great man. This book is about him, but if you ever are fortunate to make his acquaintance, he'll focus entirely on you. I warn my friends and associates who do to be prepared... they all want to hear his stories. but he will be all about them. We'll, my friends, this is your opportunity to hear those stories you long for from a truly extraordinary man -- a very human, unfathomably giving one. You'll want to write down a few quotes!
