wonderful series

I loved the story line and this series looks to be amazing! The characters were well written and I loved listening to the narrator.

Willy Wonka meets Braveheart.

This is a unique story world, at first I was picturing an old setting, because America was referred to as the colonies. But then someone used a cell phone and I realized it was actually an AU with an Alt history.

the characters were great. Well written with realistic chemistry. The performance brought them to life with convincing Scottish accents.

Let down

I really wanted to love this book but for some reason I found myself disappointed in it. I've been thinking about it for days and I believe the reason is because the story just didn't live up to my expectations despite having a fairly fantastic narrator. There has been a lot of buzz about this series among some of the reader/author groups and I had already purchasing the box set for my Kindle (although I haven't read any of it) so when I had the opportunity to review the audiobook I was incredibly excited. Unfortunately it just seemed way younger and less mature than I expected. The main character's father is abducted and she finds out scary things about him and their life along with hiding her own secret but so much of the book is focused on her attraction to "the love interest" rather than the desperation I believe she should be focused on. Admittedly, her love interest sounds like the perfect mix of brains, humor, and attractiveness so in any other circumstances I would be like "get it girl" but if the person I love most in the world is abducted and held hostage by the most murderous clan in the country I wouldn't give a single thought to a lingering touch or seductive smile; I would tear the world apart with my rage and direct that towards anyone that's trying to distract me from exacting my revenge. That budding relationship clearly degrades the book's integrity and makes the storyline just a way for the main character to learn her powers and get the guy. And that all really sucks because the book has so many things that would usually make me love it and the narrator brought it fully to life but that aspect of the story made me dislike the entire thing. I really don't know if I'll continue the series on my own.

Interesting take on what life could be like if England kept control of Scotland and America. Mix in some paranormal with six sensors and you have a fascinating story.

Seer YA

I loved the premise of the candies with magical abilities. I honestly wish I got to know more about the candies and their magic along with how they worked. It was fun to learn about the different effects the candies can have on people. I wanted to learn more about the magic too but it was really fascinating. The main character grew on me as the story went on and I liked her friends and love interest. The accents were great to get to listen to I really enjoyed this book and want to know what will happen next. I hope the candies continue to be part of the stories since they were so much fun. I can’t wait to learn more about the world and what will happen next.

Reader mispronounced words, used inconsistent character voices and dialects. Monotonous vocal cadence caused me to lose interest in the story.

Great story!

I loved the storyline of this book. However, I must give HUGE kudos to the narrator. His voice, all the accents and difference for each character made this one of the most enjoyable books! Thanks to both the narrator and author!

It was okay

I really loved the cover and the blurb pulled me in. Sadly, the narrator was mediocre at best and it was really hard to listen to it. It was difficult to listen to it at a faster pace so I wasn’t able to do that this time. I would recommend that you listen to the snippet and see if this narrator is for you. The characters were okay in this book but I didn’t feel any connection towards them.
