The Edge of The Sand

The Edge of the Sand, an ode to Bruce Springsteen's New Jersey, is the first book in the Jersey Shore Mysteries series. In it, small-time reporter Bernie “Romeo” Ruane has returned to his home town on the Jersey shore to look for Maureen. A woman he loved, but not enough. A woman who disappeared ten years ago.

Darby’s back too, his volatile niece who’s now a local cop. She left town a little after Romeo did, right after her father, Romeo’s brother, bludgeoned her mother to death in their grimy kitchen one hot summer night.

With the Ruanes back in town, things get complicated. Romeo is quickly pulled into reporting the midnight killing of a local young librarian in the parking lot of a run-down yacht club. Then he and Darby uncover unsolved homicides of other young women over the decade they’ve been gone, brutal murders of women going places. Women of promise and power who had it all. Unlike Maureen.
