Ten-year-old Trudy loves Papa more than anybody else until she hears him slap Zoe, her mother. She is so angry at him she wishes he'd die. When he accidentally sets fire to the family mansion and dies in the fire, she is not prepared for the shock.
William has cautioned Zoe not to pry into his financial arrangements. She wants to know where he keeps his money in case his life should end. How will she survive as a widow? The family has nowhere to call home except a sharecropper's shack.

Would you listen to The Dream Bucket again? Why?
Absolutely! I have recommended it to all of my friends and family. What was one of the most memorable moments of The Dream Bucket?
This was a great story - so many good moments! Without giving any of the story away, I will share one of the memories I really identified with, which was the group of men who always gathered together. It gave the whole story such a good southern feelingWhat about Clay Lomakayu’s performance did you like?
I loved how he sounded like my Pappaw, down to the whistling when he spoke. It was a super narration. I found myself immersed in the story, like I was right there living it! It would be great if all narrations provided this same kind of good sense of actually being in the story. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I was brought to tears when the house caught on fire, and the family was thrown into poverty.Any additional comments?
Can't wait to hear how the next one in the series is narrated!LOVED the narration - Like listening to my Pappaw!
