Once celebrated among London’s glittering elite, Lady Arabella Sinclair finds herself cast out, her reputation in tatters after a scandal she did not cause. With nowhere else to turn, she escapes to the wilds of Scotland, accepting the only post available to a woman of her fallen station: governess to the children of Callum MacLeod, the brooding laird of Glenbrae Castle.

Glenbrae is a world apart—rugged, isolated, and governed by ancient feuds and whispered superstitions. Callum, a widower haunted by loss, is determined to keep his heart—and his family—safe from further sorrow. But Arabella’s gentle strength and quiet resilience soon unsettle the barriers he has so carefully built. Their encounters bristle with unspoken longing, each moment a delicate dance between trust and caution.

As Arabella brings warmth and laughter back into the cold halls of Glenbrae, she finds herself drawn into the laird’s troubled world—and into a battle against the shadows of his past. To claim a future together, Arabella and Callum must defy the ghosts that bind them and the secrets that threaten to tear them apart, risking scandal, heartache, and everything they once held dear.

Well, this story went from staunchy. England where gossip and propriety, though ill intended was frustrating and women were emotionally and physically stifled to a runaway daughter, running away from a lie about herself, going to Scotland and finding the real meaning of life, wonderful people and a new family that appreciated who she was. It's an absolutely fantastic love story. It's short and quick and kissed my morning with joy and happiness as I sat with God's son coming in sipping my coffee. And enjoying the audible version of this book. I was able to envision the purple and white Heather. The mountains, the Gray skies, the rain, the sunshine, the wind, the cold. All that I know Scotland to be.I hope you give this book a try. It's definitely a five plus.

An enjoyable reading of life in Scotland
