Reseñas de la Crítica

"...Douglas' novel opens with a classic cinematic set-up. It's one straight out of Spielberg's oeuvre..." —gagaoverbooks.com

"Connecting the past and this imagining of the future gives readers insight into the major problems of the present world, whilst also delivering a classic story with suspense, action, intrigue, and, perhaps most importantly, hope" —K.C. Finn, Readers' Favorite (Five-Star Review)

"The epicness of this tale, and the sheer creativity of Douglas, is enough to make you overlook the fact that every character is nearly flawless and awash in politeness. But maybe that's part of what makes this feel-good story work." —Michael Popke, Award-Winning Journalist

Well written, passionate and compelling

The time is 2166 and America has gone through a catastrophic second civil war in which everything from the past has been erased or forgotten. That is until 12-year-old Joe Scott stumbles across a sign that reads: No Pepper. Intrigued to discover the meaning of this relic from the past, he sets into motion the rediscovery of baseball and the consuming passion known for the sport.

The author, William R. Douglas, weaves a magical storyline around the history of baseball with a creative storyline that allows the listeners to rediscover or in some cases learn about baseball and its history. Creatively done, the historical aspect of baseball is well presented. The dialogue is well done and keeps the story moving forward at a good pace. While the story is slow-moving at times, it is important to grasp the fervor surrounding baseball. The connections that baseball fosters and how those connections manifest. Well researched and for a first-time writer, he communicates this passion vividly and completely. The ending was well done and drove home the true passion, love, and need for the sport.

The narrator, Rodney Tompkins delivered a well-voiced performance providing unique voices for each character to help the listener keep them straight. His deliberate pauses and cadence enriched an already interesting story further.
I am not a sports fan, but I did find this story very int

eresting and enjoyable as it was a much deeper story delving into the emotional connections. I highly recommend.
