Boring

Not sure what this is supposed to be but dark and creepy it is not.

birds the word

i liked the thought there would be a story.

it reads like a national geographic book, feom different perspectives, non stop talk of birds, and their colors, looks, scientific names.

no character development, constant perspective shifts. i gave up half way in.

cause if i heard the story rant about tit mouses, or red worblers, for 1 more second id would of screamed.

there is a book inside the Biology lesson somewhere. but it might be 10 pages long. and not worth it.

Underwhelming

The concept was interesting and caught my attention initially, but the execution was underwhelming. For an apocalyptic setting, there is seemingly no action. The book dives into the characters without that knowledge giving any dramatic effect or change to push the plot in any significant way. Talked more about birdwatching than the actual entity taking over people’s minds. Felt more like a slice of life than a dystopian horror. During the chapters that showcased deaths; which could have provided an opening for horror, it reads in a way that is not eerie, focusing more on peace, or comfort, and the characters are quickly forgotten as you continue along. Even the ending was a mute predictable outcome with seemingly no issues upon their escape. The writing style itself is good, but the plot overall lacks substance.

This was so painful.

I lost interest multiple times. Voice sounded like it was a robot several times. I just couldn’t get into it.
