London narrates his adventures in Hawaii, his perilous navigation across the Pacific sailing through the windless doldrums to the Marquesas Islands, Typee, Papeete, Raiatea, Bora Bora, Fiji, Samoa and The Solomon Islands, before being overcome by tropical diseases and fever.

Annoying Production of a Good Story
I like Jack London's writing, I like travelogs, I liked this story.... but this specific production really challenged me to like. The first two or three minutes of each chapter are overlaid with so many sound effects one has to strain to hear the narrative, and throughout the narration is given in this breathless ranting kind of way which makes the author sound like a crazy crank. But if you can ignore that it's an interesting story.
