Acerca de esta escucha

Vanessa Pennington was an only child to two parents that she loved and adored. They lived in northern California close to the ocean where her father worked as a lighthouse keeper. His job could be quite demanding at times and required him to work all hours of the day and night in order to keep any vessels on the sea from losing their way and possibly running aground.

Matthew Pennington loved his work and had inherited the lighthouse from his father. When he married Dawn, he never dreamed that his work as a lighthouse keeper would be the catalyst that would eventually drive them apart. After marrying her, they were inseparable...and it wasn't long until they had a beautiful daughter named Vanessa. She took after her mother in beauty but was definitely her father's daughter with her love for learning everything about the lighthouse and the sea.

When Vanessa reached school age, Dawn insisted that she and Vanessa move from the lighthouse and find a more suitable place for them to live so Vanessa could grow and mature like a normal girl. One thing led to another and soon Matthew and Dawn divorced. Dawn was excited about her new life and hoped Vanessa would be too. Vanessa was heartbroken and longed to be with her father especially after Dawn introduced her to her new boyfriend.

Nothing was going right for Vanessa. She didn't fit in at school, and Keith, the one boy she liked was constantly telling everyone that he would never marry a girl with freckles. Vanessa was a strawberry-blonde...and her face was sprinkled with freckles. She tried to ignore the mean teasing of Keith, and when her homelife became more than she could bear, she ran away from her mother's home to live with her father in the lighthouse.

Matthew couldn't be happier to welcome his sweet daughter home...and nicknamed her the 'Princess' of the lighthouse. He taught her everything he knew, and she even learned morse code and began communicating with some of the ships. Little did she know when she was in her twenties, the naval officer she was communicating with was none other than Keith Lewis, the very boy who tormented her. She corresponded under the name of Princess and wondered what would happen when he realized she was Vanessa, the girl with the awful freckles!
