The miraculous discovery of vaccination in the early 1800s posed new challenges that upended the revolutionaries' dream of disease eradication, and Wehrman reveals that the quintessentially American rejection of universal health care systems has deeper roots than previously known. This is an excellent book. Exceptionally well written and researched. It's an important and timely work.

New information to me

I am a doctor. i never heard this much information in detail about how important smallpox is in the history of our nation. excellent!
