Acerca de esta escucha

He needs a rich wife. A pity that he’s falling for the wrong woman....

She’s looking to find out more about her past. She wasn’t expecting to find her future.

Colonel Fitzwilliam is a second son, often overshadowed by his titled, older brother and his cousin, Mr. Darcy. Returning from Waterloo, he knows it is time to find a wife with a healthy dowry, but he longs for a love match. Unfortunately for Fitzwilliam, love doesn’t put food on the table.

Miss Prudence Bamber has never known her mother’s family. A woman with her own mind and full life, she indulges her father’s wish to visit her long-lost relations. Mr Bamber hopes his daughter will find a husband; she wishes nothing more than to find out more about her mother’s history. It turns out to be a trip she won’t forget in a hurry.

Two people looking for love, but challenged by pride, secrets, and prejudice. Will they be able to overcome the odds to find their own happy ever after? Or, are they destined to remain separated by the constraints of society? Complex characters brought together in this gripping Regency Romance.

The Colonel’s Spinster is a Regency romance and Pride and Prejudice variation (JAFF), topped with a generous dose of humour, action, and tears. If you like simmering chemistry, fast-paced adventures, and strong characters, then you'll love Audrey Harrison's Regency tale.

okay, this book was very good and very much enjoyed it. did not like the first cousin attraction. yuck but that is what happened back then. that isn't now. thank God. I did like how the other cousin found a match. but didn't like how it ended up for her. aside first cousin issues. great book. great storyline! I loved it. I like the plot and all that and I always liked Fitzwilliam in the movie.

What I like is the focus on Fitzwilliam and his life after Napolean. What I didn't like was the deviation from the canon; 1) the colonel's FATHER, not his mother, was related to Darcy's mother (Anne) and Anne DeBourgh's mother (Lady Catherine). This story set up the Fitzwilliam's as having three daughters instead of two daughters and the son, yhe Earl of Matlock (the colonel's father). 2) I understand the difficulty of a male narrator voicing a female character realistically, but Prudence's voice bothered me with its masculine overtones. 3) I had a hard time believing that Darcy would give the colonel such a hard time about marrying someone of an "uneven match". Darcy had the experience of marrying against his family's wishes while relying on the colonel for support and understanding. The idea that he coud be so easily taken in by his ludicrous Aunt Catherine who has delusions of grandeur BEYOND her actual station and temporal settings compounded by Darcy's own personal experience makes me angry. Didn't like it. Does not seem consistent with their brotherly experiences and affection.

Always Loved Colonel Fitzwilliam

I really enjoyed this book about a new cousin of Darcy and Colonel Fitzwilliam. Great JAFF.

Loveable story

While many will shudder at this admission, I’m not truly a P and P fan. And have never been able to get past just a few pages of any sequels to Ms. Austen’s classic works. But because I’m a fan of Ms. Harrison’s books, I gave it a try…. And….was not disappointed. Great characters, dialogue, story, and narration. Mr. Young made this story even better than it is on its own. And…perhaps correctly as one reviewer stated, Ms. Harrison may not have had all her facts correct, i.e. “Lady” De Bourgh, but it really doesn’t matter. It’s just a story.
