The night Manhattan fell silent was the night everything changed.
Not silent in the way cities sometimes pause between heartbeats, when traffic lights cycle through their colors for empty streets and even the sirens take a breath. This was different. This was the silence that comes when predators and prey finally acknowledge each other's existence.
It was October 13th, 2019—a date now carved into vampire history as the end of the Great Concealment. For centuries, the undead had walked among mortals as myths and nightmares, feeding in shadows, living as legends whispered in dark corners. But that night, when the Cold-blood Supremacist Council launched their failed coup against the human governments, everything came into the light.
The war lasted three months. When the smoke cleared and the bodies were counted, humanity knew the truth: vampires were real, they were organized, and they were divided.
The Warm-blood Coalition, who had spent decades integrating into human society, stepped forward as allies. They offered their knowledge, their resources, and their lives to help rebuild a world where two species might coexist. The Cold-blood Clans, ancient and proud, retreated into the shadows they had always preferred, nursing their wounds and their supremacist dreams.
But between war and peace, between darkness and light, there exists a liminal space—a place where enemies might speak without killing, where terms might be negotiated, where hope hangs by the thinnest thread.
The vampires call this space "The Cold Warm." It is neither the icy hatred of war nor the genuine warmth of friendship. It is the careful distance of a loaded gun with the safety on. It is the recognition that sometimes, survival requires sleeping next to your enemy.
This is the story of what happens when that safety comes off.
This is the story of two young vampires who dared to love across the divide.
This is the story of how the Cold Warm became something else entirely.
