Along the road Gerard meets a colorful cast of characters—including various historical figures—and explores the conflict between a person’s obligation to family versus the church.

Considered a literary classic, Reade’s novel has been hailed as one of the best historical novels of the English language.

Christians Beware

The reading is stilted. But that’s not the real problem. The story draws you in like a soap opera but it is sprinkled with heresy and portrays the Church as oppressive, and worse. The end is vile. Just skip it.

This book has touched my heart!!!

After hearing the end of the narration, my heart, mind, eyes, and voice keep crying the name of Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!!! He, who suffered so much for us all, died, and then rose again on the 3rd day, to save all who believe in Him and love Him as the Savior, Redeemer, Lord, Master, King, the Son of God, and is God!!! We love Him because He first loved us with the greatest love we will ever know!!! Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty... Praise to the Father, the Son, and to the Holy Spirit!!! Come quickly, Lord Jesus, Maranatha!!!

Latin is not a dead language

The narration of this book certainly poses a challenge to any performer and while I admire Mr Ferguson for taking it on, I winced and perhaps groaned at times at his unusual pronunciation of words, and most especially the Latin passages, which were many.

unable to get into a major theme and plot. characters come and go and it's just a long drawn out journey.
