Chronology
This newly updated and revised version of the Bible relates biblical events in historical sequence and reads like a long epic story. For this reason, the book is divided into chapters rather than into books as in a conventional Bible. The chapters capture the most significant threads of God’s story. Reading biblical events in this way demonstrates for the reader the indelible fingerprints of God over all history. Reading the Bible in its traditional format is like examining a jigsaw puzzle before it is assembled. You get to see all the pieces and even enjoy them and benefit from them, but you don’t see the whole picture. When you read the entire Bible dated like a diary you get a more complete and clearer picture of God’s story.
Here one can read in sequence the words of the prophets and their fulfilment. For instance, this Bible version includes a detailed commentary on the prophecy of Jeremiah regarding the decree of Cyrus and how Daniel contributed towards its fulfilment.
You can read how the influence of Zechariah and Haggai contributed to the rebuilding of the temple in the time of Ezra and Nehemiah.
Many apparent contradictions in the Bible are easily resolved when it is read chronologically. Such as how the four gospel accounts of the resurrection can be reconciled? Was there one woman at the tomb or two or many? Who was at the tomb first?
Dates are included in the text throughout and these are based on known biblical time frames, archaeological findings related to biblical accounts, as well as astronomical data.
However, this chronological version of the Bible demonstrates that the Bible is much more than merely a story. The Bible’s authenticity as a God-given record of His dealings with humanity is thoroughly supported by the inclusion of commentaries on…
History
Here is included the historical background to some significant biblical accounts. In the Appendices, there are time charts included that give the dates and sequence of these events and commentaries on the historical background.
For instance: Read some research into the background to some biblical accounts: for instance, how did Cyrus take Babylon, and why did he allow the Jews to return to Israel? How did the New Testament gain such wide distribution so quickly? 'Romex Courier Services' in 30 CE?
Science
Questions that may be asked regarding whether current scientific knowledge and the Bible are compatible, are addressed. For instance, the reader can follow a link in the first chapter of Genesis to an explanation of how the scientific dating of the earth is easily reconciled with the Genesis account of creation.
Archaeology
Read about the archaeological and historical evidence for some of the more extraordinary biblical events, and how recent archaeological discoveries have confirmed the Biblical record.
Astronomy
Read how astronomical data helped identify the probable date of Jesus’ birth, death and resurrection.
Illustrations
This chronological version of the Bible includes time charts covering the entire biblical story and concurrent history, 15 beautiful maps, and 2 astronomical maps.
The editors used the text of the King James version as a template and revised and updated it to 21st century English usage. The entire text was then rechecked against the original languages with conscientious reference to the work of numerous experts in those ancient languages used in the Bible.
This Bible version includes the entire Bible text without any omissions or changes. The Apocrypha is not included.
