For barrister Edward Hargrove, a successful year means finally being able to indulge his wife at Christmas. But for his pretty wife, Millicent, the wait to find out what two boxes under the tree hold for her is nothing short of agonizing. That her husband is bringing her little gifts daily to keep her mind off the wait isn’t helping, and soon Edward — who is as firm with his wife as he is generous — reminds her that her impatience will not be tolerated. Willful Millicent is no stranger to her stern husband’s expectations. But when her curiosity and impatience gets the better of her and she violates Edward’s trust, he decides his wife needs to be humbled and made to understand how lucky they are to have so much when everyone else has so little. Will Edward forgive her when it’s all over? And what’s more, will Millicent be able to forgive herself when she finally reflects on what she’s done?
