Fun, Thriller, Coming of Age

I enjoyed the historically accurate escapism this book provided me. It had strong female leads in the prohibition era. This was fun, at times suspenseful, and all around enjoyable quick read.

Fantastic Book

Very interesting story, vivid descriptions and settings, and engaging writing. The prohibition period makes for a fascinating story and the way multiple threads tie together is done very well.

Suspense and twists

This story kept my attention from beginning to end. It had no lulls. Loved it.

Clever and nuanced story. i really enjoyed the great description being read via audio book. This would be beautiful to see depicted in a movie.

THE STORY ITSELF WAS INTERESTING

Loved it all, excellent writing and pretty decent reading. there was nothing I didn’t like.

Refreshing but short and to the point

I enjoyed this juxtaposition of characters against the varying circumstances and inevitable collision that occurs in the story. The surprising twist hidden well, and the characters being the force behind the story and not plotting for plot sake. I enjoyed this as a go-between book from my normal Fantasy/Urban Fantasy runs.

ENJOYABLE BUT AT TIMES A LITTLE SCATTERED (3.5 Stars)

I really enjoyed this one. It was part of Amazon First Reads and I’m glad that I took a chance with this author. I thought it was a debut novel because the plotting was a little scattered and there wasn’t much character development but I did really like the three POVs. I would read more from them. I like reading stories set in this time period so it was already starting off on a positive note for me.

Though scattered, the book does move at a good pace and I kept wanting to pick up the book and read more.

Really enjoyed Letty’s character. I liked how strong and determined she was though a little naive. I love a villain POV, so Raymond was definitely my favorite chapters to read. I was warm on the Forman chapters. It just felt kinda of flat sometimes. I admit my ignorance because I did not know there were women patrol officers in the 20s so that was an interesting fact to Google.

The ending was presented as a twist but you can honestly see the twist coming after the first few chapters. It didn’t bother me though. It ends like there could be a book two and I would read it.

Entertaining

I enjoyed it. I wasn’t wowed by all the narrators but it wasn’t overly distracting either.
