Elin Hilderbrand, author of the enchanting Summer People and The Beach Club, invites you to experience the perfect getaway with her sparkling novel, The Blue Bistro.

Adrienne Dealey has spent the past six years working for hotels in exotic resort towns. This summer she has decided to make Nantucket home. Left flat broke by her ex-boyfriend, she is desperate to earn some fast money. When the desirable Thatcher Smith, owner of Nantucket's hottest restaurant, is the only one to offer her a job, she wonders if she can get by with no restaurant experience. Thatcher gives Adrienne a crash course in the business...and they share an instant attraction. But there is a mystery about their situation: what is it about Fiona, the Blue Bistro's chef, that captures Thatcher's attention again and again? And why does such a successful restaurant seem to be in its final season before closing its doors for good? Despite her uncertainty, Adrienne must decide whether to open her heart for the first time, or move on, as she always does.

Infused with intimate Nantucket detail and filled with the warmth of passion and the breeze of doubt, The Blue Bistro is perfect summer reading.

I love all Ellen Hilderbrand books, this one however was a let down.
First, two of the main characters are also in 28 Summers, it was so confusing and hard to really enjoy them.
The main character Adrienne is awful. Immature, spoiled, self centered and unlikable.
The ending was very abrupt, I feel like the characters weren’t developed very well and there was no real closure.
3 out of 5 stars.

Unsatisfying

Spoiler Alert!
The FMC is going to just go back with the guy after he married someone else and didn’t call her for 3 weeks? Seriously? Good story until the end. Let’s have some self respect….she came in 2nd place the entire book. Very disappointed in the ending. EH is so talented but I don’t get the ending on several books she’s written. Ugh. I feel like I wasted a credit after finishing the last two chapters.

Terrible ending

loved the idea of the story and enjoyed reading about the restaurant industry and the love story, but the ending was very disappointing for me. I wanted it to wrap up better, or have a sequel. it left me just blah.

story was great, the ending was not

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The heroine was supposed to be a top notch hotel concierge, but made amateur mistakes as hostess at the restaurant, that was irritating. Like taking a reservation without getting a phone number/name. Plus, of all the Elin Hildebrand books I have listened to, this one was my least favorite, it went on too long!

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The behind the scenes aspect of a well heeled bustling restaurant was fascinating, plus the story of the the dual owners relationship. The restaurant staff characters were really well drawn. Many of the items on the restaurants menu I have found locally at real restaurants, such as lamb lollipops and steak frites... I wonder if the chef read the book!

Have you listened to any of Christina Delaine’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I don't think I have.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

yes definitely. It''s Elin Hildebrand!

Any additional comments?

Aside from being much too long and doubting the validity of the hostess's competence, it was a good read. Can't miss one in a series!!

Blue Bistro is one of Elin Hilderbrand's best books! It's a capturing story that keeps the listening interested and wanting more. Her stories are all based in Nantucket which gives you those feel good summer vibes any time of the year! I love all her books and this one didn't disappoint!

A Great Listen!

The first part of this book gave me the stress of beginning a new job. I had anxiety about learning the patrons, menus, and responsibilities.
The romance was confusing....and unresolved.
The ending was disappointing and left me with so many questions. I feel generous giving 3 stars.

Poor ending

Kept my interest but so often way too much descriptive dialogue. The ending was so ridiculous.

I loved this book. A different, well told story with complex characters, insight into the world of fine dining set on the incomparable island of Nantucket.

What made the experience of listening to The Blue Bistro the most enjoyable?

The setting on Nantucket; the famous Blue Bistro Restaurant with the intertwined staff and patrons and how real it really was.

What other book might you compare The Blue Bistro to and why?

None so far. This is it's own book!

What does Christina Delaine bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Christina brought great life to "ALL" the characters; drawing me right in as one in the onlooking crowd. She was excellent!

Who was the most memorable character of The Blue Bistro and why?

That is impossible for me to choose one. They all had a descriptive part. The main ones being Adrienne, Thatcher, Feona and Mario. The book focused around the first three.

Any additional comments?

Nantucket what a place to visit through the eyes of Elin Hildebrand! I am a first time reader of this author and wish there would have been a sequel!! "The Blue Bistro" is an easy read or listen all captured in three months. A high class restaurant on the island of Nantucket where the scenery is breathtaking. Adrienne, Thatcher, Feona are the main characters however the restaurant crew and patrons become a descriptive part in this book.

It's has real life situations, relationships that inspired me to fall into the book and think what I would do in each of their lives. One can make more of this book other than simply another read. Truth is expressed in this book in my eyes. What happens when patrons come in to this high end restaurant and make one feel absolutely of great value yet do they feel the same when one is out and about at a party!?!? Interesting.

What's the entanglement between Feona, Thatcher and Adrienne?!

A great book if you desire light reading and beautiful scenery and relationships!

I didn't find it depressing at all; if it was real life story decisions made in this book would be the same in real life. Each character brings his/her own value. I loved this book! I didn't want it to end!
