In the time it takes for a villain to breathe his last, Anne and her mother, Dauphine, suddenly inherit Belrose Abbey -- a gothic castle set on a monstrous estate, complete with devious servants, mysterious forests, and the darkest of secrets. The more they settle into their new home, the more unsettling the house becomes. What do all the unmarked graves mean? Where are all the people who had arrived on the estate but then vanished? And could there really be an abandoned insane asylum on the property? Although Anne and Dauphine are determined to purge all the horrors from Belrose Abbey, this new mystery could very well be their undoing.

The Bloodstone Vial: The Belrose Abbey Mystery series, Book 2
: Anita Higman , Hillary McMullen

Anne and her mother, Dauphine, are back and Belrose Abbey is as strange and mysterious as ever. Things going bump, faces at windows, items disappearing, new people coming to work, and many twists and turns............oh did I mention romance? I am anxious to where this series will lead.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Michelle Babb voices these characters with flair!

This story takes up exactly where book 1 stopped. This Mystery is done so much better with more depth and characters were more real.
The Narrator did a Wonderful job with the characters and the storyline on this Audible book.

Would you listen to The Bloodstone Vial again? Why?

I think i would if there was a next book i was going to listen to. I would listen to all of them before the new one just to get a feel of the setting again. it was hard to jump back into the strange after only a short time between the first book and the second. but well worth it

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Bloodstone Vial?

I would have to say the most memorable moment is the bridge. That part kinda freaked me out since i am always scared of it happening to me on a bridge

Which scene was your favorite?

The Bridge!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, i wanted to know what else was going to happen. This series i have discovered is one that anything can and might happen

Any additional comments?

a bit confusing at first but ended really great!!

This is a continuation of Book 1, The Ruby Locket. While the first one was less Exciting, being a lead up to this one as they often are , even though it was very good also. , This one brought everything together. It was very well performed from the story to the narration. I am very picky about my reading and often times I do not finish one. So anytime I listen to, or read a book all the way through, it is a very good book. Both these books kept me interested all the way to the end. So if you like a good mystery, that has a great story with great narrators grab these 2. They are so worth it.

Loved This book!!!

This is book 2 in the series "The Belrose Abby Mystery". I have read book one in the series already and really liked it. I also really like this book. These mysteries are not the usual crime who done it mysteries or even a cozy type, but I am intrigued. We start this book with the ending of book one. So we find Dauphine has inherited the Abby and she and her daughter Anne are settling in. But there is yet another mystery that needs to be addressed before life can be calm at the Abby. Michelle Babb is the narrator again and she does a wonderful job. Michelle helps to bring this book alive. I was gifted this audiobook with the understanding that I would leave an honest review.

Great series

I can be labeled an audible addict. With nearly 1000 titles in my library and dare I say hundreds and hundreds of listening hours logged, I’m quite particular when it comes to narrators. This story by Higman, McMullen is good - it’s well written and I found it entertaining. What kept me listening though was the dulcet tones of Michelle Babb. I go out of my way to listen to her work.

There is just something I find so comforting when listening to Michelle perform a book. I don’t know exactly how to describe it - but I certainly know when I hear it.

Overall - this is a good series but just know, you can never go wrong listening to book narrated by Michelle.

Great narration

Anne and her mother, Dauphine, find themselves owning the creepy castle-like mansion, that appears to house a myriad of secrets. A stalking staff member, a mysterious grounds foreman and hidden graves all lend to the sinister vibe. Even so, there is a cute little romance brewing between Anne and Wyatt, which brightens up the story. Totally engaging mystery.

Chapters are narrated from the point of view of either Dauphine (widowed 8 months ago) or Anne (her 16 y/o daughter).
Dauphine and her daughter Anne along with Ivan's stepson Wyatt (all explained in the story) have to live in Belrose Abbey or forfeit their inheritance. No one on the estate is what they seem or want others to believe. Although it is set in 21st century, the tone of the estate is Gothic atmospheric mysteriousness and suspense. A very interesting read! No spoilers, bad language, or erotica.
Michelle Babb, narrator, helps to bring this book and the characters to life.

Creepy but good!

We left Wyatt, Anna, and and her mother Dauphine in charge of the Abbey at the end of book 1. This one just continues the story where we left it, and we witness the attempts of the two women to manage the Abbey and its surroundings. But things will get messy again. Dauphine finds the blueprints of a building that should belong to the Abbey, and she realizes that there are some missing files from what used to be Ivan’s office. The fact that the staff at the Abbey is not helping and some are even bold face lying, just adds to Dauphine’s suspicions. Who can they trust?

After finishing the previous book just two days ago, I had to start with this one almost immediately. I have a soft spot for well written cozy mysteries, and I can’t resist to Michelle Babb.

On this occasion we are up against a clear cozy mystery. There were some elements in the previous book that led me to think that there could be something paranormal, but there is nothing of the kind in this book, and some of the strange phenomena from book 1 are explained.

Our characters need to find out the truth about this supposed building belonging to the Abbey, but nothing and no one can be trusted. The authors did a wonderful job building up the suspense and describing the scenes and hard events the characters met. I am not usually scared when reading horror books, but I listened to this one with bated breath. The scenes seemed so real that I felt that I was with Anne and Dauphine, and I could not stop listening.

There are no loose ends and the story arc is complete. Nevertheless there is plenty of room for the authors to create more stories around these characters and place. I do hope they will delight us with more books.

This is a great book, but Michelle Bab’s narration made it excellent. I find impossible not to enjoy a book narrated by Michelle. She focuses on great character interpretation, making them sound natural; and her narration traps you in a way that you can’t stop listening. When I listen to a book narrated by Babb I have the feeling that somebody is telling me a story, not just reading it. And the characters are brought to life and they talk like real people.

I really enjoyed this series so far. The stories are intriguing, the characters are believable, and their length (this one just over four hours) provides almost instant gratification. I hope there will be more books in this series.

I received a copy of this book in audio format from the narrator in exchange for an honest review.
