The Black Robe

As if the life of a Black attorney in the public defender’s office wasn’t already hard enough, Sam Hicks’ road to redemption hits a rough patch when most of his cases are re-assigned to a racist judge who clearly has it out for him and the poverty-stricken men and women he represents in court every day. Admittedly, Sam has made great strides since becoming a Christian, but some of the old demons from his childhood simply refuse to go away, and he continues to struggle against old belief systems about race and his identity.

What if he’s never able to fully change his thinking or to trust God in all things?
