A strong finish to an excellent series

Jeff Wheeler has a rare ability to weave deep truths into really compelling and original fiction. Muirwood is my favorite of his worlds (so far, anyway) and this prequel trilogy did not disappoint.

It’s hard for me to tell you what I love about Muirwood without spoilers, but I’ll try. All three trilogies center on women who become powerful by shunning ego in favor of a more transcendent calling, and being willing to risk losing their standing, dignity, freedom, happiness and even life to answer it. The things they face are sometimes gut-wrenching, but Wheeler doesn’t write tragedies and he’s not a cynic. Redemption by way of sacrificial love is a running theme in every book of his I’ve read. So is justice, and seeing what it can look like can be tough but always calls back to the ongoing possibility of even the worst finding redemption. And the stories are just plain fun to read: adventure, mystery (including secret knowledge), magic, a mysterious power few understand, peril, occasional world-crossing, sword fights, romance, and really neat world building (in my opinion).

For those new to his work, start with Kingfountain, then the first two Muirwood series before finally reading this one, which comes full circle in making some significant connections between the two worlds. All-around a great read.

Excellent book three.

This was book three in the series, wrapped the series up nicely, Jeff never disappoints!

One of my favorite authors!

I haven’t read one his books that I have t thoroughly enjoyed, and I look forward to many more!!

Great way to end.

I loved seeing the origin of the Leerings at the beach in Brythonica and the Wiser Board that haunts the posterity of Kingfountain. Wheeler’s tying together all the legends and lore has been fun to read.

Fantastic Read

I binged this, great, exciting story that keeps you wanting more. Highly recommend this series.

Lovely and heartrending

I have read all of Jeff Wheeler's works and he never fails to deliver. This was a beautifully epic tale with many easter eggs for his devout followers to smile in glee over. Kate is a fantastic narrator who is paramount in bringing Jeff's adventures to life. Thank you!

Fantastic ending

I really enjoyed getting to hear the backstory to some of my favorite characters from previous works.

Great ending to this trilogy

Or should I say beginning of the muriwood story. Mordant/Maderos, finding out about Lea and Maya’s ancestors was fun. Thank Jeff Wheeler for another great book
