The Back Road Mystery

Bob a very tired gold prospector is on his way home, he fights to stay alert on the narrow back road; suddenly in the darkness an oncoming vehicle appears out of nowhere and comes straight at him, the bright headlights are blinding, he swerves to avoid the other vehicle, the edge of the road gives way, a deep crevasse drops off before him. He stomps hard onto the brake pedal, but there is no stopping. As his vehicle pitches and tumbles into the darkness, a glimpse in his rear view mirror reveals a face caught in the flash of his taillight. With both hands clutched tightly to the steering wheel Bob and the truck plunge down the steep embankment into the darkness.

The truck finally comes to an abrupt rest at the bottom of the crevasse. The engine dies, while one headlight continues to shine into the darkness. All is quiet and Bob finds himself mortally wounded and trapped beneath the steering wheel. He suspects the impact and internal injuries will only give him a short time to live.

A mystery unfolds, and two young men attempt to solve it.
