A Historical Tour de force

Two things astounded me about this book. One; how much I had learned over the past 40 years about the Azusa Street history without Robeck's book. Two; how very, very much I learned BY Robeck's book. Excellent and Riveting!

God centered brings revival

Loved hearing of the trasformed hearts, which brought about action. Loved hearing of hearts changed for missions. Loved hearing about the empowerment of Holy Spirit. I listened at 150 speed and my interest was kept to the end. Great book.

Regarding Revival

This book gives a thorough investigation and review of the early Pentecostal revival at the turn of the 20th century. Very interesting read!

Unexpected

Not at all what I expected, but really glad I stuck with it. I expected more accounts of the miracles and supernatural events that occurred during the revival. But I believe I learned a lot more reading the history of these amazing people, their commitment to spreading the gospel, and their tenacity under opposition. I highly recommend this book.

I absolutely love this amazing piece of history!! And I love how the author asks questions to the readers, and you think and assess the situations referenced, and it leads to prayer. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

Reader was terrible

He ran together sentences throughout. No breaks most of the time, like he was in a great hurry to get through the reading.

Rich History, Explained in Detail, and more.

I thought this covered the history of the Pentecostal movement in a great way. First hand accounts and testimonies from written statements, even down to the impact that it had on several different denominations, and even the run-ins with the police and law enforcement when thought to be out of control.

I especially love the last chapter, with the warnings on revival of both the good and bad results. I think every one of these denominations should read this, know where we started, and why it was so different, and how we seeked God above all.

Incredible story!

In my mind, this is the greatest revival ever told in the history of America.
