Resumen del Editor

A COLLECTION OF BRAND NEW SHERLOCK HOLMES MYSTERIES MYSTERIES

If you love Arthur Conan Doyle’s original, do not miss this collection of artfully-constructed new tales.

In this gratifyingly perplexing anthology, Dr John Watson finally discloses the details of mysteries tantalizingly alluded to but never before unravelled.

Is a mother really speaking with her drowned daughter from beyond the grave? What connects a politician, a lighthouse and a trained cormorant? Why is the depth to which the parsley has sunk into the butter dish so vital a clue?

Discover the answers to these curious questions and more in these three short stories of knockout power:

"The Dundas Separation Case"

"The Abernetty Mystery"

"The Adventure of the Reluctant Spirit"

Plucked from hints scattered throughout Conan Doyle’s original, this is the third collection in the Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes series. Acclaimed Sherlockian Paul D. Gilbert’s third collection opens the door on some of Holmes’ most famous unexplained mysteries.

Discover these new adventures of Holmes and Watson. Perfect for fans of the original and lovers of classic mysteries.

Mixed bag

A lot of effort went into this group of Holmesian stories. The narration is on-point and perfectly suited to the setting and the “canon”. However, a few odd features of the stories detract from the works. 1. In an effort to recreate the word-craft of the original Doyle stories, the author goes too far in presenting circumlocution and excessively roundabout communications. Even in Holmes’s days, people “got to the point” quicker. 2. Watson comes off as a bit of a delicate flower, whose feelings are hurt by SHerlock’s standard slights and eccentricities. Remember, Watson fought and was wounded in Afghanistan. 3. Oddly, while I don’t care if characters smoke tobacco - - and Holmes certainly did - - I felt the number of cigars, cigarettes and pipes were, in the aggregate, way over done. The number of smoking references and asides made me think Philip Morris had paid product placement fees to the author.
