The Book of Lamentations is a complete work in itself, a five-chapter book that is sort of an appendix to the Book of Jeremiah. The Book of Lamentations is his outpouring, where he essentially mourns for Jerusalem. The poor guy, on the one hand, was faithful in his office as a prophet; he told forth what God had told him to tell forth, and Jerusalem was going to be judged for her iniquity. On the other hand, Jeremiah was a patriot, his roots were there, and his emotional commitment to Judah was absolutely uncompromising.

There is but one way, the only way, or God did not answer Jesus in Gethsemane, and, we are without hope. And, what of Barabas? Get out your Bible, and your dictionary- it means "son of the father". Take your time to consider that.
Mark Eastman clearly outlines the reality of crucifixion. Not mere agony, not only torture. No, the Phoenicians perfected the science of extended torture which mercilessly prolonged agony from which, after five minutes, no human crucified in a modern trauma center could be rescued. Don't you dare believe otherwise.
