Fascinating read. Extremely well written and the narration by Hugh Kermode really makes it a pleasure to listen to. Highly recommend all of Hobsbawms work

Eric Hobsbawm’s second installment in the long 19th century trilogy takes aim at the period from the failed revolutions of 1848 to the economic crisis of the 1870s.
