Historia
A middle-aged man returns to his childhood home to attend a funeral. He is drawn to the farm at the end of the road, where, when he was seven, he encountered a most remarkable girl, Lettie Hempstock. Forty years earlier, a man committed suicide in a stolen car at this farm at the end of the road. Like a fuse on a firework, his death lit a touchpaper and resonated in unimaginable ways. The darkness was unleashed, something scary and thoroughly incomprehensible to a little boy. And Lettie - magical, comforting, wise beyond her years - promised to protect him, no matter what.

During this time, foreigners were becoming more and more unpopular, and evacuation at a moment’s notice was imminent. Although Jean appreciated the beauty of China - the mountains, the countryside, the sea - she knew she belonged in America and longed to make her home there.

Resumen del Editor
Jo Jo is an endearing but sometimes mischievous little girl of eight years. She has a great imagination. She can talk to animals, and she loves the woods where many of her adventures take place. Find out how the deer, Rudolf, got his red nose, or what a crab turns into at the seaside, or what happens to Jo Jo when she gets lost in the city or when she is whisked off to a magic kingdom. Sometimes, Jo Jo can be scary, too, as in the spooky tale of "The Moving Door Handle". Here are stories that will appeal not only to children of all ages but to imaginative adults as well who are young at heart.

Historia
This heartwarming fictionalized autobiography tells the story of what it is like for a little girl to be growing up in an unfamiliar place. While other girls her age were enjoying childhood in America, Jean Fritz was in China in the midst of political unrest. During this time, foreigners were becoming more and more unpopular, and evacuation at a moment’s notice was imminent. Although Jean appreciated the beauty of China - the mountains, the countryside, the sea - she knew she belonged in America and longed to make her home there.

Historia
It's 1939, and for Georg, son of an English academic living in Germany, life is full of cream cakes and loving parents. It is also a time when his teacher measures the pupils' heads to see which of them have the most 'Aryan'- shaped heads. But when a university graduation ceremony turns into a pro-Nazi demonstration, Georg is smuggled out of Germany to war-torn London and then across enemy seas to Australia where he must forget his past and who he is in order to survive. Hatred is contagious, but Georg finds that kindness can be, too.

Startling, unusual, and yet irresistably readable, Among Others is at once the compelling story of a young woman struggling to escape a troubled childhood, a brilliant diary of first encounters with the great novels of modern fantasy and SF, and a spellbinding tale of escape from ancient enchantment.

Lovely Adventure!
Would you consider the audio edition of The Adventures of Jo Jo to be better than the print version?
I didn't read the print version.
What did you like best about this story?
I enjoyed the narrator's interpretation of each character that JoJo encountered in this book.
Which character – as performed by Ronald Fox – was your favorite?
My favorite was the reindeer, Rudolf. The voice that Ronald Fox created helped bring this famous character to life. It made me smile.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I would have to say the JoJo and the Squirrel story was moving to me. It was a story of being able to make a difference in a positive way in light of a tragic event. RIP Oliver. :-)
Any additional comments?
I thoroughly enjoyed Ronald Fox's performance. He was very creative and engaging with each character. He should do more children's book narrations.
