The Adoptees Journey

This book was very well written, and I appreciate that the author narrated his own book because you can feel some of the emotion. I’m an adoptee and there were several references throughout the book that I didn’t have the words for and I think the author Cameron Lee Smalls did a very good job of putting things into words that maybe only adoptees have felt but could never articulate. My husband is Korean and think that even those who weren’t adopted who decided to come to America deal with micro aggressions and misunderstood culture and if you’re adopted those micro aggressions could seem even louder or more intense because of your own personal trauma.

A Hopeful Heartbreak

This book is earth shattering. My heart broke in so many places and in so many ways. I am on the journey to adopt and I am forever grateful for this book. I enjoyed scripture and the Christian outlook so I can soak in some scripture and learn and embrace new views. Thank you so much for this wonderful opportunity for the outside looking in to your life Cam. 🩵

Outstanding book

I loved listening to the Audible version, as Cameron’s voice narrating his own memoir was just like listening to a good friend. I listened to it twice because I didn’t want to miss any part of it. I even purchased the printed version and a CD version to share with others who don’t have Audible. Even though written by a Christian therapist who shared his adoption journey, he did it all without being too much like a therapist or in-your-face like some in the adoption constellation have expressed on why they avoid Christian authors. I got teary-eyed just listening to the Acknowledgments and hearing how much he appreciated each one. Needless to say, this is one of my favorite adoption-related books.
