A safe boater is able to see what's ahead -- and avoid it when necessary. But in smaller boats it's difficult to see when you can't stand up. The solution? Here's a quick DIY guide on building and installing your own leaning post using materials found in any Thrift Shop or Outlet. I built mine for about $5 and now I stand and steer easily and safely in both fresh and saltwater.
