Life overflows with severe problems as well as breathtaking wonders, and Ernie's life is no exception. A retired marine and Native American from Oklahoma, he lives in beautiful Costa Rica. He is 100 years old, though he oddly enough has the body of an athletic man in his early fifties. An accomplished painter, he guards many secrets and some are hidden in locked boxes in his closet. His biggest secret, however, is hidden in his soul as to why he killed a man one night at a truck stop near Waco, Texas. A romantic with mystical leanings, his life is never the same after what happens to his wife in Costa Rica.
