Resumen del Editor

Nancy Kress returns with Terran Tomorrow, the final book in the thrilling hard science-fiction trilogy based on the Nebula Award-winning novella Yesterday's Kin.

The diplomatic mission from Earth to World ended in disaster, as the Earth scientists discovered that the Worlders were not the scientifically advanced culture they believed. Though they brought a limited quantity of the vaccine against the deadly spore cloud, there was no way to make enough to vaccinate more than a few dozen. The Earth scientists, and surviving diplomats, fled back to Earth.

But once home, after the 28-year gap caused by the spaceship transit, they find an Earth changed almost beyond recognition. In the aftermath of the spore cloud plague, the human race has been reduced to only a few million isolated survivors. The knowledge brought back by Marianne Jenner and her staff may not be enough to turn the tide of ongoing biological warfare.

Great Story.

The storyline is fantastic but the performance leaves a lot to be desired. Tons of mistakes with names by the voice actor and just a lack of voice ranges.

A lot has happened in 28 yeras

Terran Tomorrow is Nancy Kress' 3rd and final installment in her Yesterday's Kin trilogy. The tale opens 28 years after the now failed diplomatic mission had departed Earth. Coming home in another alien vessel, they find a post-apocalyptic nightmare where ecoterrorism has resulted in 96% of humanity being killed. The surviving 4% are divided into the immune and the remainder who must live in alien designed domes for protection. Warfare is constant as these two groups vie for ultimate, while scientists continue efforts to restore some degree of ecological balance on the planet. There's lots of action and oxymoronic military intelligence ending with several drastic actions to save the planet.

Kress creates a post-apocalyptic scenario that is somewhat lacking. The focus is exclusively on the United States, but with a space worthy vessel, there is never any attempt to check out the rest of the planet. The solution to genocide sparrows seemed to engender way too much resistance as if sparrows are the most critical organism for whole planet ecology. There was much back and forth between the Gaiaists and everyone else. It was also disappointing to see the Worlders as so narcissistic that they were completely unable to comprehend different evolutionary trajectories.

The narration is well done with reasonable character distinction. Pacing is moderately brisk.

it's a fun read, if you're into slow pseudo sci-fi

I definitely enjoy this series. I love slow burn sci-fi stories, and this is definitely one of them. very slow. if you're looking for action, they're technically is some, but it's not what the story is really about. I think my favorite thing about this is the main character (who was unfortunately sidelined for about a third of the book) is a grandmother and a geneticist. which is such a unique take for a sci-fi. in my mind, Marianne was played by Kate Mulgrew.

Excellent

Wonderful conclusion to the first two books. Lived up to expectations with lots of interesting questions about the limits and potential evolution of human society/civilization.

Dark and Frustrating

This author has a dark vision of humanity that is depressing. The entire trilogy is plagued by this idea that humans cannot succeed at doing/being better as we exist right now; that it will take major evolutionary leaps forward for us to survive as a species; that we are doomed and there is no hope for us. If you are trying to cheer yourself up this isn't the series for you.

Consistent read

I enjoyed it more than book 2, and it kept a consistent pace, which I appreciate. Again, like book 1, there was incredible potential for a very deep dive into the science, betrayals, and characters. I feel I only had a glimpse of who they were, what they felt and why they choose the paths they do, leaving me hungry for more of the story.

A very enjoyable trilogy

I thoroughly enjoyed these three books. And I really didn’t expect the ending. But I like it. It brings the story full circle and explains a lot at the end. I look forward to more I Nancy Kress.

This series is very meh

The over arching story was "ok" the characters well developed, the science was great, but overall it did not blend well, so it ended up very meh.

Riveting

The incredible notion of not picking this book up and reading is an alternate reality where I sit sad and unentertained. This series keeps you engaged and at the ready for the next chapter. e Don't believe the naysayers, read and decide for yourself.
