A New Game for a New World.
Matthew Wong and his little brother, Oakley Wong, are excited to leave the cramped living quarters of humanity's last bastion of civilization, the floating domed city of Sojourn. Matt thought the most annoying thing about his mission would be caring for his little brother. Making sure Oakley wouldn't obsess over studying something off mission and talking Matt's ears off.
All of Matt's expectations fly out the window when a flock of Holo birds kidnap his screaming brother, carrying him away. Holos never attack children. Holos only target adults! The defining truth of the world for the past forty years has changed! How? Why?
One thing is certain. Matt is getting his brother back.
What to expect:
- YA appropriate story (think 12 and older). Does have mild violence.
- First Person POV from male MC
- World Building (Post-apocalyptic), game design
- Monster taming and battles
- Short chapters, fast pace. Note the eBook is closer to 300 pages.
- Light LitRPG elements (I am working on a TTRPG system for Terra Tamers). Takes time to show up.
- No cursing unless you count H-E- double hockey sticks.
- Grayscale creature illustrations in the back!
I think fans of Digimon, Code Lyoko, Monster Tamer Academy, .hack//SIGN, and similar stories which blend gaming, science fiction, and compelling characters will enjoy Terra Tamers: Alpha!

The world-building is fantastic—imagine a post-apocalyptic universe with game-like elements and intriguing new ideas about survival and discovery. I loved the light LitRPG touches that add depth without overwhelming the story, and the monster battles are intense and fun. The characters feel real and engaging, especially Matthew Wong, whose determination and loyalty shine through. The story also touches on family and growing up, making it relatable and heartfelt.
The book is suitable for a younger audience (12+), with mild violence and a compelling first-person POV that draws you right into Matt’s adventures. The grayscale creature illustrations at the back are a nice bonus that bring the monsters to life.
If you enjoy stories like Digimon, Code Lyoko, or Monster Tamer Academy that blend gaming, sci-fi, and exciting characters in a vibrant world, I highly recommend giving *Terra Tamers: Alpha* a try. It’s a fun, engaging, and uniquely crafted read that I highly suggest you don’t miss!
