I spent many, long illuminating hours with the "heroine" in this book, frantically scribbling down notes as she told what turned out to be an incredible story; a beautiful story, a story that had to be told. "Tender Persuasion" is a tale of tragedy and terror, of understanding and patience, of courage and triumph. But most of all, it's a love story. Some of the scenes are sexually explicit in nature--including graphic rape scenes--and must be in order for the reader to understand the level of terror this woman experienced and level of determination her man possessed. It may seem unbelievable to some that one woman could endure and overcome so much, but she did and I am proud to call her my friend. She is an inspiration to us all, and her man is a true hero in every sense of the word. At my "heroine's" request, her name has been changed. So has the hero's. The town where the story takes place is a figment of my imagination, and their occupations have been fictionalized to protect their identities.
