"I once was homeless, hungry, and afraid. I was cast away by society, deemed a street urchin not worth their time. I felt as if I was a ghost fading into the wind. Over the years, homeless people have been looked at as a problem. When in truths, they are not. They are not a political issue or a scourge. When I was homeless I came across a wide range of people. With stories that deserve to be told. Maybe these poems will change something.... Maybe they won't.... All that matters is that they change you. No one can understand the feeling of being homeless and hungry until they've experienced it themselves. Through these poems, you will hear the voice of the forsaken; my lost brothers' and sisters'. Every story put forth to you here is true and factual. I should know, I lived them. You will not be the same. That I can promise you." - Blue Balcita

Poignant Poems
This collection of poems is very poignant & gives listeners a glimpse into the lives of the people who are homeless, who they are, where they came from. Ms Balcita is a talented writer & I look forward to hearing & reading more of her work. Mr Oberst did a fine job of bringing Ms Balcita's words to life.

Oh the Truth
When you sit and listen to this book you have to think back and wonder how many of these people have I ran in to. It is crazy to think the extra change in your car can make a world of difference. This book makes you wonder. it is truly an eye opener and it makes you heart sink all at the same time. I plan on purchasing the actual book, and all of the books from this author. Great and inspiring. Knowledgeable and truthful.
