Resumen del Editor

Miss Brianne Collins is accustomed to getting everything she wants in life. She grew up on a genuine Southern plantation, but she wants more. Joining New York society seems like the ultimate goal, but it isn’t anything like she imagined it would be. Until she meets Lord Julian Kendall and they strike an unlikely friendship.

Julian Kendall is the second son of the Duke of Weston. To alleviate his boredom he starts working as an spy for the crown. In his first assignment he’s sent to America and observe the suffragists there and report back. It seems silly to him but he does as he’s told.

After a while Julian and Brianne’s relationship takes a different turn and with war on the horizon they may never have the chance to discover what is inside each other’s heart. Happiness seems elusive as war ravages the country, but both hold onto hope they have a chance at finding it.

Shirt k sweet classic romance

Tempting An American Princess by Dawn Brower is book 2 in the series but it can be read as a stand alone - I did, and didn’t feel lost or that I missed anything. I actually didn’t even notice it was a book 2 until I noticed it on the cover half way through.

This is a short & sweet love story about an American & an Englishmen in the early 1900’s (WWI), who start out hardly tolerating each other, and eventually secretly falling for one another. While a quick read, it’s not an extremely rushed rushed romance like you find in too many short stories. And the time lapse that happens between chapters doesn’t seem forced. This is a PG romance novel - no gratuitous violence or sex. While some characters do get intimate, it’s alluded to, not described. Very clean but still romantic in the classic definition.

The narration was pretty good. Nicola F. Delgado does a fine job. An American Southern accent can be tricky, but she reads Brianne like a ‘Gone with the Wind’ character that is mostly convincing. I believe the narrator is from the UK, so her European accents are pretty realistic to me...an American, for whatever that’s worth.

There were a few repeated lines (editing issues) sprinkled throughout the book, and then quite a few at the end, but no sound issues or anything like that. While it would be ideal to have it cleaned up, it’s tolerable.

I received a copy of this audiobook from the author, narrator, or publisher in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

I thought this was a lovely listen

It is filled with so much heartbreak as two people get to know each other and do not care for the other much. But it doesn't take all for them to start baiting each other and having a lovely time. There is a war and the two go their separate was only to come back together in the middle of it all having some wonderful times. Something happens that separates them again both having to overcome some major issues. My heart broke for these two and their family as they go through so much.

The narrator did a good job, some editing still needs to be done there are a few places where there are repeating of words. Her character voices are very nice. She give very nice emotions, you always know who is talking and what they are feeling. There are no background noise, and no volume changes. She has a lovely normal voice and I really enjoyed listening to her.

What an ending, I do wonder how many times in history things like this happen. The book was put together nicely, with a wonderful plot. There are no fillers and moves fast through the years. I totally loved this audio so much.

Tempting An American Princess

Brianne Collins parents have decided its time for her to find a husband. So she insists they take her to New York. Which is quite a change from her Southern life, and the Southern men. One of the first people she meets is Julian Kendall and she immediately dislikes him. Her brother becomes friends with Julian and soon they are running into one another quite frequently. I love how Dawn Brower gives us the story of Lily's Children. I always feel so at home when characters are brought back in form another book or series. I also loved the pace of the book, and although it was not a long story the book never felt rushed or that I was missing anything. It was well written and the story line was fantastic. The narration was easy to listen to and really brought the story to life.
