Northeast England, 2046. Daniel is scavenging for treasures in an old landfill. His cousin Michelle is making ends meet with a little coding here, a little hacking there.
When a nuclear explosion sends shockwaves around the world, Cameron Silvera, a.k.a. the SimCavalier, knows exactly who’s behind it. The Argentum Associates team mobilizes to secure nuclear facilities. Daniel, helped by Michelle’s creative hacking, starts working with them when he lands a job at his local power station. He has his suspicions about some unusual software that turns up at every site. Stakes rise when a body is found floating out to sea, silenced by the cybercrime syndicate.
Cameron, desperate to protect her family from the growing threat, joins forces with undercover hackers in an international fight against a rogue militia and a global cybercriminal network. Linking the two is Michelle, working in the half-light of gray hat hacking. When Ross slips up and reveals his old, cast-off identity from his criminal days, she makes the connection. Betrayal could bring the whole delicate operation crashing down.
The terrorists count down to their next attack, and time is running out. Cybercrime mastermind Tenuk feels the net closing in as the international coalition picks off his star black hat hackers one by one while Cameron discovers that there is a traitor in her own trusted team. As the action goes down to the wire on England's northeast coast, in the heat of Singapore, and in the mountains and lakes of Wyoming, it’s a race against time to defuse an explosive finale.

Not my typical genre
I’ve found all of the trilogy fascinating and I’m looking forward to the next one to be available on audio.
I’m not a huge sci-fi fan, and I know only the essentials about cybersecurity, yet the storytelling and interpersonal relationships in these books have really captured my interest. The diversity of the characters, the backstories of each and the author’s ability to describe components of dark web activity and cybersecurity in a way that someone like me can grasp, all without coming across as condescending is really exceptional.
