Spanning more than 250 years of American history, this work is a collection of 31 heartwarming stories of some of our fellow Americans who have traveled that road behind us. Some people here are well known: Harry Truman, George Marshall, Lou Gehrig, the Wright Brothers, Clara Barton, Ulysses Grant, Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, John Quincy Adams, David Crockett, Meriwether Lewis, and Benjamin Franklin. Others presented here are lesser known, but also have contributed to our American legacy.
Harry Truman once stated, “The only thing really new, is the history you don’t know.” Professor Allen Guelzo stated, "History, if anything, teaches us humility.” It's been said, “The next time around, history lessons are always more costly.” Distinguished Historian David McCullough affirms, “History is a great way to meet people.” This book does that.
