Before the chemical companies told us we couldn't grow a tomato without their help, folks grew food just fine. They worked with the land, not against it. They watched the seasons, built their soil with compost and worms, and kept pests in check with common sense and a few good companions planted in the next row over.
The Pagan Guide to Vegetable Gardening takes you back to those roots. This is a practical, hands-on guide to growing your own food using the simple, pre-chemical methods that fed families for centuries. From choosing your site and building raised beds to soil preparation, watering, seed selection, attracting pollinators, and bringing in your harvest, every chapter walks you through what you need to know — no jargon, no expensive equipment, no chemistry degree required.
Each chapter opens with Scripture and weaves in the old folk traditions that connected our ancestors to the earth beneath their feet. You'll learn to bless your tools, time your planting with the seasons, welcome the earthworms and bees that do half the work for you, and grow clean food your family can trust.
Whether you're digging your first garden bed or looking to leave the chemical aisle behind for good, this book gives you the confidence to grow real food the way it was meant to be grown — with nature, not against it.
