THE DAYS OF ROSIE HAYES

Can you imagine what it feels like to be me? No, of course not. You can recognise yourself in a mirror, know your relatives and friends as soon as you see them and remember them when you see them again. My name is Rosie Hayes, I’m thirty-six and, after an accident when I was eight, I’ve suffered with prosopagnosia (face blindness). I might be your best friend but I won’t recognise you if I see you again. I might be your sister but the same applies - I won’t even recognise your voice, let alone your face. When on a walk with my dog Skipper, I’ve seen a murder being committed but what can I tell the police? D.I. Frank Bryson is deployed to the village of Thornberry where the remains of a body have been found in Barnet Woods. His only witness statement is from a young woman called Rosie Hayes, which he soon realises is totally useless.
