Dawn Riehl bakes the best honey cakes in Bird-In-Hand, Pennsylvania. That’s because her father has a magic touch with their bees. Unfortunately, their hives have attracted the attention of some local black bears. Her father has hired Caleb Ebersole, a skilled hunter from New York to track the bears.

Caleb is solemn to the point of rude, but for a hunter he is kind to the animals. Too bad he’s not so friendly to humans. Since he’ll be staying with them until the bear situation is solved, Dawn is determined to brighten his day. But even her honey cakes won’t put a smile on his face, and she has to bite her tongue to keep from snapping back at him. She prays that she’ll break through to him through their love of nature and their faith. After all, her mother always says you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

Caleb is still grieving for the loss of his parents who died in a tragic barn fire. The last thing he needs is a bride. Although when he looks at Dawn, that’s what his heart wants. She shines like the sun and is vital to her family’s business. He couldn’t take her away to the grim farmhouse he grew up in. Somethings were just not meant to be and he has to harden his heart, otherwise she’ll crack open the shell of grief he’s surrounded himself in.
