Acerca de esta escucha
The incredible story of one snowboarder’s quest for spiritual enlightenment in the Himalayan mountain range.
Having snowboarded the tallest mountains in North America, young adventurer Frederick Lenz begins looking for the biggest snowboarding challenge he can find. His search for the ultimate high leads him to the snowy peaks of the Himalayas where, while surfing the snow-capped mountains, he experiences something much more profound.
This transcendent adventure begins when he accidentally plows into a Buddhist monk named Master Fwap at the base of a mountain. This karmic incident leads Lenz on an adventure to unlock his spiritual destiny.
Master Fwap leverages Lenz’ desire to perfect his snowboarding skills to reveal the hidden pathway to true enlightenment, showing Lenz how to free his mind while also challenging his spirit. By doing this, Master Fwap claims Lenz can master any mountain, including the hardest mountain of all—oneself.
This fictional story, based on real life occurrences, is charged with high-octane energy, humor, and insight that will leave you breathless at times and inspired the next. Join Lenz in the Himalayan mountains. You just might find what you’re searching for as well.

Wonderful Read Narrated by the Author
This book combines the purity and grace of snowboarding with an amazing spiritual adventure. A teenage snowboarder visits Nepal with no other intent than to rush down the highest mountains he can find on his board. On his first descent, he manages to snowboard into an old Buddhist monk. He then feels obliged to at least listen to what the monk has to say, and with that, the transformation and snowboarding skills of this teenager take off like an alpine racer. As you listen, you feel you are there with Master Fwap and the young snowboarder, exploring the tracks of wisdom and skill, Having the author read the book turns an already excellent story into a magical ride.

I felt myself sharing the author's experiences!
I've read the original "Surfing the Himalayas" several times, and always loved Frederick Lenz's description of hanging out with a Buddhist monk, Master Fwap, high in the Himalayas, especially his description of seeing Master Fwap glow and radiate gold light while meditating, actually filling the room with frickin' gold light! But there were some things I couldn't quite get my mind around.
The audio book is fantastic! Hearing Frederick Lenz describe these encounters in his own voice completely blew me away! I also had the companion ebook open at the same time, and followed the audio.
It seemed like his voice actually conveyed some essential understandings to me at a deep level.
Previously, I never understood Master Fwap's explanation that the world dissolves and is reborn at every moment. This time, I suddenly pictured the moment "now", as the razor edge of time we call the present.
I visualized my memories as the past extending to the left of the razor slice of now in my mind's eye, and the future as the imagined unfolding of my life to the right of the razor of now in my mind's eye.
I realized that Master Fwap, and Frederick Lenz later in life, and all enlightened beings, actually have "gone into" that razor edge of "now" time, and have seen and live in the timeless infinite expanse where everything actually resides.
10,000 thanks to Frederick Lenz for packaging a gem of essential spiritual teachings into this audio book and the companion ebook.

Doh.
Seeing as this was once a New York Times best seller I expected a well crafted story. I was resoundingly disappointed. As an expert in the sport of snowboarding, I highly doubt the author has ever strapped in. Not a good read at all.
