Lightning strikes again thanks to Wodehouse!

Galahad's memoirs are the big threat and the big draw of this story. You need to get through the first few chapters where the characters are introduced to be able to fully enjoy the plot in full swing. Well worth the time at the front end for the marvelous pay off from the middle to the end.

Perfection

Ridiculousness perfectly performed. I wish we had more John Wells reading Wodehouse! This story has all the characters and plot twists and descriptions as only Wodehouse can create. I listen to it often to cheer up.

Funny book, well read.

My favorite book by a Wodehouse that I’ve read so far. Great reader—which makes all the difference.

Pretty funny

A pretty good story. Typical Wodehouse having fun with aristocratic mishaps and snobbery.
this reader was excellent at the voices. Really dramatic for each character.

my only criticisms:
he gave Millicent an intense lisp so she actually seemed to have an intense speech defect. This really reduced her credibility as an upper crust character imho.

also the narrator gave Lord Emsworth a high-pitched, muffled woman's voice which seemed to be his inartful way of depicting Emsworth’s stupidity.

The narrator also raced through some real great humor without giving these parts their due.

But the narrator does a great job otherwise.

Painfully Funny

In an earlier review I described Jonathan Cecil as the best Wodehouse narrator, but John Wells is every bit as good in Summer Lightning, sadly the only one he has recorded, as far as I know. Every character is perfect and this is Wodehouse at his best, side-splitting.
