Acerca de esta escucha

In, Success: For Minority Teens (& Their Friends), C. Osvaldo Gomez creates an engaging and compelling narrative on the topic of success. Many authors have written about the principles of success over the years, but there are few examples that address the unique needs of students of color, and certainly even fewer that are specifically written for minority students. Although the book's goal is to help minority students reach personal success of their own, the book is relevant and applicable to all teens. Though some of the text may resonate more with teen minority readers, the lessons are suited for all teens, irrespective of their ethnic or economic backgrounds. C. Osvaldo Gomez uses his storytelling ability to share the challenges he faced as a teen, namely, being an immigrant from Mexico, living at home with an alcoholic and abusive father, struggling with anxiety and depression, and the opposition he faced in various educational settings that made his success highly dubious. The stories inspire the reader, rather than provoke sympathy. Filled with easy to do at home exercises, the book is also a resource for teens. There is goal setting, friend selection, getting over bad days, and positive affirmation exercises, to list a few. Each chapter ends with a "main points" section and the Intro presents a preview of what to expect for each chapter. This way the young reader can make the most meaning out of the text. C. Osvaldo takes the lessons he's learned from his favorite authors on success, Brian Tracy, Napoleon Hill, Jack Canfield, to name a few, as well as the teachings he's received from his experience as a classroom teacher, investor, entrepreneur, and finance blogger, and offers teens a strong, but caring path to personal success. He's earned the nickname, Homie G, from his students because "he's like a homie," i.e., a friend who is there to back you up, but also tell you if you're wrong. In this book, the reader will learn what success is. In this book, the reader will learn about the mindsets that are anti-success. In this book, the reader will learn strategies to get over bad habits. In this book, the reader will learn what it Really takes to be successful.
