Emelia Ocean is just such an android. A former subscription child herself, now, she just wants to live a peaceful life pretending to be human with an adopted daughter. But two people aim to disturb that peace.
Maki Satori, a feature journalist, is given a two-week deadline to write an earth-shattering story to save her job. Isaiah Castille, a heavily modified human working for EverLife, is tasked with decommissioning androids to save his livelihood. Emelia is caught in the middle with one intent on digging up her past; the other, stealing her future.
