So, this book narrates a very difficult period of their life, full of troubles, and challenges.
The author has narrated in this second part of the story as to how they spent the long period of twelve years of exile in forests, and one more year in incognito.
Did they continue to cry on their fate and lie low? Or, conspire with the help of their well-wishers to kill and overthrow their cousins? Or, thought of calming the effect of some planets like Saturn with the help of rites as being prescribed in the modern days, by some great knowers of the impact of movement of planets on human life?
We know it well that they did not opt for any of such options, first one was against their personality, second one was against their virtuous life, and the third option was not suggested by any of the great sages of that period, who were not influenced by superstitious modern thinking.
What those sages did ?
They, with the help of ancient stories, and saying, consoled them in the initial stages, and whenever they were afflicted during their exile; and also guided and motivated them regularly. Amazing stories, thus form a major part of this book. All having awesome contents, and very suitable to learn from them, even in modern days. Story of Nala and Damayanti, and of a fowler, and Dhundhumara, and of Kalki Avatar, are some examples.
How Pandava spent this long period?
Yudhishthira, continuously devoted himself to improve his knowledge, and virtue; and remained a very strong support for his brothers, and Draupadi, when they felt severe pain.
Are you aware that Yudhishthira saved his mighty brother Bhima from the clutches of a huge snake? Read that wonderful story here.
When all his brothers were killed by Yaksha, he brought them back to life. The author has described the story in an amazing way.
Arjuna devoted his time in obtaining celestial weapons. He pleased Shiva, and received his weapon. He also received celestial weapons from all Lokapals, and Indra.
Is it known to you that Arjuna was the only man to go to heaven, with his mortal body, and remained there with Indra for five years. He supported the divine cause by slaying Nivatakavachas, Kalakeya, and other Rakshasa, remaining invincible to celestials themselves. A wonderful account of these wars is narrated in the book.
Two wonderful battles involving Arjuna are also narrated in the book. First one was to free Duryodhana, and his brothers, and wife, from the captivity of Yakshas; and second one to defeat Duryodhana and his complete army when they wanted to steal cattle of Virat.
Bhimasena remained active always. From getting rid of Kirmira Rakshasa to of Kichaka, his prowess is described in a number of stories. A story of his meeting with Hanuman is very interesting.
They stayed in the kingdom of Virat, in Cognito. Amazing stories are related with that stay.
The end of this book is with marriage of Abhimanyu with Uttara; and so happy readings.
