Charles’ life changes several times in this series. He is asked to adopt and raise three Sioux children for a great friend, addressing multiple threats to his family, his Denver manager asking for a new and more exciting career, and the surprising arrival of one of his valued English employees asking for a job in America, which leads Charles to develop a new industry idea.
Charles settles things in Orlando and gets plans started for the factories and distilleries.
Pete is taken to Atlanta, where his pig farm training is started. Pete is shocked by the size of the land in Orlando and Atlanta, and by the enormous herds of livestock.
Gray Horse, A great Sioux War Chief, with four other great warriors come to Denver to ask Charles for help. The problem is too significant for Charles, so he takes the five Sioux to Washington to confront President Ulysses S. Grant about it and ask for Government help.
Dante Nasato of the New York crime families sent a representative to visit Charles to warn him that one of the new family members from Canada has joined the five families and decided to take over the Crawford organization.
Dante warned him to leave Charles and his family alone, but thinks he's trying to show how great he is. He wanted to warn Charles that the family had refused to go for his plan, but he sensed the man was planning to go on his own.
Charles and Cedric travel to Canada to address the problem, only to struggle to return to the United States unnoticed and safely.
David, Charles’ brother, sends Charles an urgent telegram to help him address a threat to his family and business.
