This is five action-packed adventures making a novel length combo in one book. In addition to the “Stone: Bounty Hunter” stories—Stone and the Ranch Ladies—A Bullet for an Outlaw—Shootout at Devil’s Skull—and Blood and Bullets on The Bayou—there is an additional story, "An Act of Vengeance," which is not in the Stone: Bounty Hunter books. As usual, Stone is encountering bullets and bedlam at every turn. In "Stone and the Ranch Ladies", he arrives in the middle of his client’s sunbathing session. No problem. The beautiful statuesque blond middle-aged lady asks him to join her while she enjoys the remaining rays of sun and explains why she has requested his services. She has had a great number of cattle stolen by rustlers. One of her cowboys was also killed by the outlaws. She needs his cunning as well as his guns. However, it may not be as bad as it seems. Her beautiful daughter, who also enjoys the sunbathing sessions, will be giving him a hand.In "A Bullet for An Outlaw," Stone and Leon Sams, the first black deputy to work out of the U.S Marshal Service’s Denver office will be on the trail of an outlaw nobody wants them to bring back, at least not alive. The varmint is badly in need of reforming and only a bullet can do that.In "Shootout at Devil’s Skull," Stone goes into the badlands of Mexico to rescue an Arizona rancher's daughter who has been kidnapped by a gang of outlaws and gunslingers. Outnumbered at least ten to one, Stone has to move swift and shoot fast to survive this escapade. Following a shootout that left a trail of dead gunmen, bloodshed, and carnage, he might have thought this job was complete. Not yet. There’s still more of these varmints in addition to the Rurales to contend with at a place they call The Devil's Skull. Ride along with Jake Stone as he encounters ever-present danger and occasional romance in what was once the wild west frontier. In "Blood and Bullets on the Bayou," Stone has taken the plunge. The love bug has bitten him while he is vacationing in the city of New Orleans. He and his bride begin their honeymoon by taking a trip up the Mississippi on a riverboat. Will they live happily ever after? Not if the river pirates who board the boat to rob and steal and kidnap the bride as an afterthought have their way. Stone has been in some bad situations, but this seems to be the worst considering he’s personally involved. Some river outlaws are going to die, and they will die hard. There will be one heck of a gunfight before the gun smoke finally clears.

In a land carved by dust, blood, and broken promises, some men ride the edge of justice. When lawmen turn corrupt and outlaws rule the range, it falls to the few who still believe in honor—and aren’t afraid to draw steel to defend it. From high plains showdowns to backroom betrays, this is a tale of grit, vengeance, and redemption in the unforgiving west.
If you like hard-bitten heroes, high stakes gunfights, and the kind of stories that smells of saddle leather and scorched earth, saddle up—this western delivers.
