The last lead was to a cabal of wealthy gamblers who pass their time racing horses in the barren Montana brush. To infiltrate their tight-knit syndicate, Du Pré goes undercover, lining up his own horse and jockey. He must tread lightly - horses are not the only things these men shoot.

Very fun read Bowen has another hit. Can’t get over Palice and her obsession with Ripper

Getting close to the end😕

Only a few more books to go and the Dupre series will end….or will it. Time will tell. Have been very entertained by the wholeness of family and friends in these novels. The criminal element is only a part. Have loved how it all was weaved together by Bowen. Devoured theses books and will miss it all when I have reached the end.

First class series, characters and setting

The characters in this series are as likable and fun to go on an adventure with as Captain Aubrey and Stephen Maturin. Like Patrick O'Brian Peter Bowen can tell a great story.

the story could be taken out of today's headlines

the continuing saga of Gabriel Dupree and his family and friends although you could read this as a standalone I hardly recommend starting with the first book you'll enjoy every single story in many things within each story will make sense as they relate to some things in the past . if you're not read them yet all I can say is lucky you enjoy the reading...
