He finds himself forming a strange alliance with the House of Hage in order to uncover the plot and stop it before it's too late, but his distraction with Emilie and her rambunctious sisters prove to be a great distraction. It's politics, mystery, passion, and chaos for David and Emilie as they try to find their way in a world that would see the two lovers torn apart.

"EPIC…. Medieval Romance!" (Claire Delacroix, NY Times and USA Today best-selling author)

Slightly disappointing....

A soft pick. It was lacking the adventure and battle scenes that are so much a part of her storylines. I still love the de Lohr‘s though. Great narration.

Disappointing

I do not like to leave bad reviews & choose my purchases very carefully. I have been a fan of Kathryn Leveque's medieval tales since I first discovered her writings. My enjoyment has doubled by acquiring many on Audible. The narrator did a fine job with the material, sadly that could not compensate for the poor story. I felt it was more a recap of Christopher's story, than one devoted to David. It was a struggle to become involved & immersed as usually happens with this author's tales.

This book has same material as previous book!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

If you read Rise of The Defender in this series, this book is that book with a bit more added. I was so dissapointed.

uneven sound levels

l love the story. l love the narrator. But the production quality suffered some, to my thinking. Some moments were almost lost due to not being loud enough.

Little Brother David de Lohr grows up

Emily and David’s story. David a happy go lucky bachelor is smitten with lady Emily but does not want marriage. Emily wants to marry and have children. She would not allow him any advances. Their personalities clash and enter twine with the times of war. It was an enjoyable listen but, half of the chapters were an exact replica of part 2 and part 3 of the previous book Rise of the Defender.
